About Us
Owner Anne Buckley and manager Therese Hoarty had long careers in finance and publishing, respectively. After leaving those careers, the pair teamed up and indulged their love of shopping. They formed a “traveling boutique,” selling at house parties and holiday and charity boutiques. Anne decided to take the plunge and follow her dream of owning a store. In January of 2008, Verano opened its doors at 84 Main Street in Tuckahoe.
“We try to have something for every customer,” says owner Anne Buckley, “We carry a wide range of sizes and price points. It’s important that women be comfortable and really enjoy their shopping experience.” The idea is to create an inventory that caters to the individual and diverse tastes of our customers. Every woman should leave the store feeling good about themselves and the clothing choices they’ve made. Verano has a relaxed, laid back atmosphere and emphasizes individual customer service.
Verano features established boutique labels such as XCVI, Chan Luu, Velvet and Vintage Havana but Anne and Therese also seek out under- the -radar contemporary labels and local artisans who are not found in other boutiques or department stores.
The store is a strong supporter of the local public and private schools, donating merchandise and gift certificates for auctions, and hosts shopping days that benefit local schools and charities.
